Password Reset Stopped Working after Upgrade

Since upgrading from Washington to Yokohama, the password reset has stopped working

I am working on external user registration functionality. Everything seems to be working ok except for the password reset portion (which was fine before the upgrade). When a new user selects the link to reset their password (found in the email sent to them), they then input a new password, reinput the password to verify it matches, and then is met with an error on the page.

Error message displays for a millisecond and states "the password you have entered matches with one of the previous 24 passwords." Then the page displays the following message "password reset error. invalid password" message. This is despite the fact that this is a brand-new password with no matches in the last 24. In fact this is a brand new user so its impossible.

is this a PDI or real instance?
(the screenshots are not much helpful, it seems like taken from a phone? but in a dark room so not possible to read anything from it)

Is it the same for all the users or just some? > can it be related to having or missing a particular role maybe?

Check system proprties searching for "password" or "reset" in both name and description fields. Perhaps it's limiting due to role or any other aspect.

EDIT: the last screenshot is great and I see there a company logo (be careful and anonymise it next time, it's a good practice not to share enterprise details anywhere public). If it is a client's instance and it's related to upgrade, you can raise a case at the Support Portal for assistance and hope that it's not cause by any customisations 🙂
