Password reset url not working

When getting a password reset link in email notification it looks like this:
When user clicks on it, the portal's landing page appears (https://[instance_name]/sp/?id=landing) instead of the password change form
Here is a list of redirects that happen in the browser:
All of the UI Pages involved are set to public.
How can I make it work?

I would also like to know of a resolution has been proposed for future releases?
The KB article above does not resolve my problem in Kingston.
