Popup not working

We have a requirement to make certain fields read only, which I have done through UI policy(also was able to do it through OnLoad client script). However, now the popup is not working. How to make it work (Service Portal)?

if the field is readonly then the i icon is shown but are you saying nothing happens when that is clicked?

what's the exact issue?

If yes then check this link which has workaround but it will impact everywhere, response from jdiggs

Enable 'Preview Record' icon on single catalog variable

This is not a catalog item, it is the form widget. When I click on the icon, nothing happens.
