Profile Photos

Can someone help me out by explaining the differences between the photo field on sys_user/sys_attachment and the "Live Profile" picture that users can manage themselves through Service Portal?

Where is the "Live Profile" photo stored? Is there any existing (in-built) solution to just have them all match?

I currently have one user that has 3 different photos. One when viewing sys_user record, another in Service Portal when admins view him, and a third image in Service Portal when non-admins view him. It's just weird.

Hi Steve,

Although, you do have a Photo option available on the sys_user table, the photo that is available throughout the instance, like in Service Portal, Connect Chat and the Logged in User's photo, is the one from the table Profile (live_profile).

All user live profile photos are stored in this table that is located under Collaborate > Feed Administration > Profiles.

As an example, I have updated the Live profile for system administrator and posted screenshots from places where this is reflected.

It's been a while, but I'm coming back to working on this issue.

I guess the question is whether or not there's an out-of-the-box method to synchronise the image across the tables? We have some users that set their image through the Platform UI (sys_user) and others that are setting it via the Service Portal (live_profile). Ideally, if it's set in either table, I want it to also update the other table so they're in sync.

Hi Steve,

You can achieve this by changing the profile photo in Live Feed.

1. Navigate to Self-Service > Live Feed.

2. Click the tile with your picture or initials and title.

3. Point to the existing picture (or tap the photo in the smartphone or tablet interface) to display the Upload a picture link. Click the link, navigate to the location of the photo you want to use, and click Open.

Hope this helps. Mark the answer as correct/helpful based on impact.

Thanks

I also tried to figure out this issue. I think the main thing is that the photo is of high quality because the first impression depends on it. I work with pictures and videos a lot. For this reason, stock content is just priceless to me. Particularly if I have to select an uncommon theme for the project—like pictures of wolf head. I like to select the greatest choice that is offered.
