Retrieve files from a Shared Drive and attach to record

We have a requirement in which pdf files located on a shared drive need to be retrieved by ServiceNow.
We have an integration with another in house application that will send a link to the shared drive and the zipped folder the files are contained in. The link is added to the ticket. The team working the ticket will need to review the documents and attach the relevant documents to the ticket. However, users cannot access the folder via the link on the ticket due to browser security restrictions. Is there any way ServiceNow can access that link and retrieve the documents in that folder and attach to the ticket? I have looked everywhere on the community and have not been able to find a solution for this. Closest thing I have found is to have the files dropped on the mid server and access them that way. But still not very clear on how to accomplish that either. Any suggestions?
