Scoped Application: Script to Assign a Role to a User if the User is updated on a Custom Field

Hello,

I have a requirement to assign a role to a user if the user is populated in a custom field. Since this is a scoped application, the end user does not have access to the sys_user_has_role table. Is there an alternative way to assign a role to a user using a script?
