Hi @jwalaservicenow,

There are multiple integration options available between ServiceNow and Jira but most of them require high technical skills to write scripts. OpsHub’s free Community Edition integrates most of the common entities between ServiceNow and Jira, with an easy to configure GUI. A ServiceNow certified integration tool, OpsHub offers a federated integration platform that can help ease your integration journey.

OpsHub also takes care of the following use cases:

  • Format retention: ServiceNow uses HTML text formatting, while Jira uses Wiki markup text formatting. OpsHub retains the format when integrating data between ServiceNow and Jira.
  • Assignment group – project: Jira users use Projects, whereas ServiceNow users often use 'Assignment Group' or some other field, for organizing their data. With OpsHub, data can be mapped across different Jira projects based on the ServiceNow Assignment group.
  • Data granularity: OpsHub also integrates history between ServiceNow and Jira. E.g., between the two syncs, if the user modifies the status from Open -> In Progress -> Resolved in Jira, OpsHub allows users to see the exact transition (Open -> In Progress -> Resolved) happening in ServiceNow too.
  • Field-level conflict management: If you are looking to integrate data bidirectionally, data may be updated simultaneously in ServiceNow and Jira, causing conflicts. OpsHub supports Field-level conflict management to maintain consistent data across ServiceNow and Jira.

OpsHub’s Commercial Edition additionally supports the integration of more advanced data like Jira Zephyr, QMetry, Xray, etc.

You can reach out to OpsHub’s Integration Experts for an initial discussion of your use case and planning of integration strategy.

Thanks,

Vishal

Hi Jwalaservicenow

Integrating Snow and Jira can greatly improve collaboration and streamline your processes. There are a few approaches you can consider based on your requirements.

  1. Manual Integration: With this approach, you would manually create User Stories in Snow and corresponding issues in Jira. This would involve keeping both systems up to date by manually transferring information between them. While this method is straightforward, it can be time-consuming and prone to human errors.

  2. Automation with Plugins: Both Snow and Jira offer plugins and integrations that can automate the synchronization process. You can explore the available plugins and integrations provided by the respective platforms to connect the two systems. These plugins often offer features for mapping fields, syncing data, and managing the integration workflow.

  3. Synchronization Tools: Another option to consider is using synchronization tools like Exalate. These tools specialize in bidirectional synchronization between different systems, such as Snow and Jira. With Exalate, you can automate the transfer of User Stories from Snow to jira and vice versa. These tools typically provide flexible configuration options to map fields, control the synchronization frequency, and handle conflicts.
