Service Portal - eCommerce with Payment Gateway

Hi all,

I've seen some old (unanswered) threads on this topic, but wanted to raise something new and a bit more specific/to the point.

I'm currently researching options for building a complete eCommerce portal experience in ServiceNow, using Service Portal. Think any typical storefront website such as Amazon etc.

So, ServiceNow has the Catalog Items, Cart, Pricing, etc all covered. It just seems to be the payment area that's a little bit uncertain.

Has anyone previously researched options for Payment Gateways that can be integrated with ServiceNow? It seems like PayPal would be the most obvious way to go, but has anyone ever actually DONE this integration in Service Portal? If so, I'd love to hear from you.

Are there alternatives to PayPal? Other gateway services (accepting VISA, Mastercard, etc) that are known to be "compatible" with Service Portal?

Any thoughts/feelings welcome 🙂

Hi,

In addition to Stripe, other common payment gateways frequently used for e-Commerce websites include authorize.net, Gocardless and Cardconnect. Your preferred choice would depend on which one is most common in your primary service area of your business.

When integrating payment gateways with ServiceNow's Service Portal for an eCommerce portal, there are a few considerations and options you can explore. While PayPal is a popular choice, there are alternatives available. Here are some insights PayPal Integration: PayPal offers various integration options, including PayPal Checkout, which allows customers to pay with their PayPal account or credit/debit cards. You can explore integrating PayPal Checkout using PayPal's developer documentation and ServiceNow's integration capabilities.Other Payment Gateways: Besides PayPal, there are several other payment gateways known for their compatibility with eCommerce platforms. Some popular options include Stripe, Braintree, Authorize.Net, and Square. These gateways provide support for major credit cards (Visa, Mastercard, etc.) and offer developer-friendly APIs for integration.Custom Integration: If the payment gateway you prefer is not directly supported by ServiceNow or its Service Portal, you can consider building a custom integration. This involves leveraging ServiceNow's capabilities, such as REST APIs or scripting, to connect with the chosen payment gateway's APIs and handle transactions.ServiceNow Community: The ServiceNow Community is a valuable resource where you can engage with other developers, administrators, and experts who have experience integrating payment gateways with ServiceNow. You can search for existing threads or start a new discussion to gather insights and learn from others' experiences.

When selecting a payment gateway, consider factors such as transaction fees, security measures, ease of integration, customer support, and the gateway's availability in your target markets.

Remember, it's important to thoroughly research and test the integration process, ensuring compatibility and functionality with Service Portal. Consulting ServiceNow's documentation and engaging with the ServiceNow Community can provide you with further guidance and assistance specific to your project requirements.
