Is that variable of type Yes/No? Or perhaps a Select Box? If so you could simply create a Catalog UI Policy with Catalog UI Policy Action. Have you tried this? Whats the issue you are running into?
My issue is how to format a description that has links and multi line text. I am trying to use a client script to populate the value but formatting is the issue
