Can the top navigation bar be edited? That is, can items be removed (such as workspaces) and other item(s) be added?

Hi @mah1
You can go to 'Unified Navigator Menus' Module where you will find all Banner Menus as below:
To hide any particular Menu like 'Workspace', just make it inactive (Menu Active = false).
To add new Menu, you can add in same table Unified Navigator Menus.
To add new Workspaces you can refer below link:

looking at this on our dev instance which is Tokyo Patch 4, i only see Unified Navigation Configuration... I don't see Unified Navigation Menus when i enter unified
i see the same items listed as in your screenshot but it does not allow me to make any inactive.. all those items appear to be read only... i am using an admin account...
i can see Unified Navigation Menus in my PDI but I am not able to make the items inactive not am i able to make any kind of change to these items

It seems Tokyo added 5 more ACLs to the sys_polaris_menu_config table and you require the maint role. To make it worse they haven't updated their documentation, it still says "Unified Navigation Menus".
If you want to modify (or completely remove Workspaces) check what is currently showing, in my case it was this:
Then type "experiences" and click on it.
Then click on each one of the ones that you want to remove, in my case "Service Operations Workspace". Click on "to edit this record click here", then remove the checkmark on active and save.
Do the same with the rest of the experiences.
