Transform Map Questions

Hello,

I have transform map where I'm using Mapping Assist to map the fields, and I'm having issue of losing the mapping when I modify the mapping and save.  This seems to happen after a new file is loaded as a data source.

The files are an excel files, and the new file has the same columns with an updated data.

Moreover, the same issue happens after migrating the transform map to another instance using an update set and attempting to modify the mapping using in the upper instance.  We did migrate the transform map, the import set table, and the data source and then test if we have the same issue in the instance where the update set was committed.

Any idea what might be causing this or how to avoid it?

Is transform map one of the things that is recommended to do in the target instance and not migrate via an update set?

Hi,

Thank you @BharathChintala for your follow-up.

What we ended up doing is making the update in transform map Fields Maps related list instead of using Mapping Assist as a workaround and that has worked. This would avoid re-creating the mapping every time we need to make an update to it.

@Ziad Qadora it is recommended to use Update set to move transform map related things.

Most possible causing is import fields should be available to do mapping and those fields also need to be captured in update set. If you load data without update set import table creation and fields creation will be not captured.

When you move mappings will  be lost as fields not moved and when you load excel those fields will be created automatically but sys_ids will be different than lower instance which is causing your issue.

Hi @BharathChintala ,

Thank for your response.

The update  set does include all the fields, the import set table, and data source and the we are able to run the transform without issue, and we are able to transform after loading new update set.

But if we attempt to make an update to mapping using Mapping Assist after migrating the update set, we are to make the update.  But when we save the mapping and get returned to the transform map main page, the mapping disappears.

This also happening on instance where the mapping is originally created when new data is loaded to the same import set label.

@Ziad Qadora Auto mapping or Mapping assist is recommended only time of transform created. Please create new mappings manually
