One big difference is addition of three tabs to the left pane in UI 16.
While UI15 only gives you one list of links in the left panes ( and, my favorite feature, the "Edge" ), UI 16 gives you three lists of links. You select which from a tab.
The three tabs are:
The filing cabinet - this is the list of links matching the left pane in UI 15.
The Star: This is a list of links that you customize and maintain. You can add a link to this list in one of 2 ways. First, by clicking on the star next to a link in the "file cabinet". Second by dragging a link to it from a list view. You can delete a link by clicking the divided circle icon. This is similar to how you add links to the Edge in UI15.
The clock: gives you a list of links to records and lists which you have recently visited.
