Update existing groups already in instance

Hello

Let say I have a few existing groups in test

I made a changes to these groups 

Now I need to bring over these changes I made to the groups and I have already downloaded my xml

However when I go to my table and right and right click to select update set > import and select the xml file and uploaded

The groups does not seem to update with changes made to the groups

How do I update the groups to reflect changes

If the changes you made were to one of the related lists on a group (such as adding a new role to a group), you'll need to export the XML for that related list. You do that by right-clicking on the breadcrumbs in the related list and clicking "Open new window" and then exporting from the list that is opened.

Yes so that's the thing, I already filter to select the update sets needed but when I import, they don't come over. Still showing the old record I have which I am looking to update

Have you checked your update set to confirm that your changes to sys_user_group or any related records were added to the update set? as they are not added OOB, and if you have no option to add to updateset manually, then you need to export the records via xml from the table inmvoilved eg sys_user_group, then manually import the xml into your target instance.
If the records exist in your update set and you are exporting and importing manually via xml, you still need to validate and commit the update set via retrieved Update Sets.
