URL to take users to a catalog item directly

Pam Walker1

We have been trying to get this to work but keep just taking them to the portal landing page

https://ourinstance.service-now.com/login_with_sso.do?glide_sso_id=<SSO_sys_id>&sysparm_uri=/sp?id=sc_cat_item&sys_id=ac86fab2c3bafe10322d3327050131af

Anyone have any ideas

@Pam Walker1

simply take them to the portal page.

If they are signed in already that portal page will open

if they are not signed in and sign with SSO then they will be taken to that portal page after successful login

what's the challenge?

I want to direct them directly to a catalog item not the homepage

@Pam Walker1

as per the URL you shared you are taking them to that catalog item on your portal.

the points I mentioned about SSO and sign in still hold true

what's the further question?

Hi @Pam Walker1

It isn't considered best practice to save a catalog item URL as a favorite.

Instead, users should log in to the portal and locate the catalog item either by:

  • Searching using keywords or metadata, or
  • Navigating through the appropriate category.

That said, if needed, here's the direct URL to the catalog item:

https://<your_instance_name>/<portal_suffix>?id=sc_cat_item&sys_id=<catalog_sys_id>

If you're using the Service Portal, the portal_suffix is typically sp.
