What is best practice for End User accessing different modules in Service Now

You can create catalog item or MRVS and then Map those variable with Cmdb / servicer table field.

We have a service request form on portal and when i created a field with reference to cmdb_ci table that field data is not visible to end user on portal. 

Can you help me on this?
