What is captured in an update set?

a) Data Record

b) Configuration Item

c) New User/Group

d) Views

I am confused between Configuration Item and View.

Can some one explain me the answer and reason of why others are not.

You probably can. Like pretty much any record a scheduled job can be forced to be in an update set (Search for Add To Update Set utility). However, keep in mind that most of the times you do not want your scheduled jobs to run with the same schedule on all instances. Hence if you deploy them make sure you are not re-deploying them over and over again. This can be done manually in update sets, but tricky if you use AppRepo or Source Control - hence having them not as part of the deployment is generally a good idea.

Hi ctomasi -- Can BSM Maps be captured in Update Set?

Hi Sachin,

Also following are not captured in update set:

1. Scheduled Jobs

2.Dashboards

3.Homepages

I understand why Incidents may not get transferred over but why would Users & Groups not automatically go into an update set by default? I'm just trying to understand the reasoning as this may help when trying to remember which will and wont go into an update set. Thanks!

I would like to add the updated links to the documentation as of Tokyo Release for anyone's convenience.
