I am confused between Configuration Item and View.

Can skills be captured in update sets?

By default skills are not captured in update sets. They are tied to users and users are not captured in update sets. Another way to think about it, they are not the operations that drive the behavior of the system (like a business rule, UI action, or something else you configure, test, and promote), but rather the data (often changed in production) that the underlying, configured logic uses to make decisions. Hope that helps.

What is your use case where you think you might need them?

  • Fields
  • Forms and Form Sections
  • " Reports"
  • Tables
  • Views
  • Roles
  • " Published Workflows"

Data (no)

I hope that helps.

An update set in ServiceNow is a group of customizations that can be moved from one instance to another. Here's what is typically captured in an update set: - Customizations made to tables and fields. - New tables and fields. - Changes to form layouts. - Client scripts, business rules, UI policies, UI actions, and script includes. - Changes to workflows. - New or modified reports and dashboards. - Changes to system properties. - New or modified roles and groups. - ACLs (Access Control Lists). - Data sources and transform maps. - Service Catalog updates including new catalog items, variables, and workflows. - Changes to the homepage and content management system. - Update sets do not capture data records like incident records, user records, etc. Please note that not all changes can be captured in an update set. For example, changes to existing data records, user preferences, scheduled jobs, and certain system settings are not captured. nowKB.com

An update set in ServiceNow is a group of customizations that can be moved from one instance to another. This includes changes to tables, fields, forms, and scripts, among other things. Answering your question: a) Data Record - Not captured in an update set. Update sets do not capture data, they capture configuration changes. b) Configuration Item - Not captured in an update set. Configuration items are data, and as mentioned, data is not captured in update sets. c) New User/Group - Not captured in an update set. Users and groups are also considered data. d) Views - Captured in an update set. Views are considered a configuration change, not data, so they are captured in update sets. So, the correct answer is d) Views. Here's a summary: - Update sets capture configuration changes, not data. - Data records and configuration items are considered data, so they are not captured. - New users/groups are also data, so they are not captured. - Views are a type of configuration change, so they are captured in update sets. nowKB.com
