What is entity expansion in servicenow context?

A health scan was run on our instance and one of the security items said to disable entity expansions. Could someone give me a quick explanation please. Or link me to something.

Hi Daniel,

We have received a recommendation from ServiceNow to set 'glide.stax.allow_entity_resolution' property value to false. 5 years ago we have received a recommendation to set the value to TRUE.

Not sure what has been changed since then. 

 

We are not sure how to do the impact validation if we disable this property in our instance.  As per your last comment will it impact SOAP & SAML integrations? Can you please advise what are all the impact analysis we need to do.
