what is the limit for semaphores available in an instance

what is the limit for semaphores available in an instance? Does it depend on the customized configuration with respect to the size of the instance or it just comes up as a fixed out of box number for any instance?

You can see common semaphores by typing in stats.do into the navigator.

I believe there is 8 semaphores per node, atleast 2 nodes per instance.
