What is the maximum limit of 'max activity counter' in Workflow properties?

The default value of 'max activity counter' in Workflow properties is 100. But there are situations of looping few activities with 1day timer for  duration of say 1year causing thee activity counter to reach even 2500+.

So, is it advisable to increase 'max activity counter' to that amount? What impacts can this large counter have on the workflow?

Hi Pranshu,

I don't see any documentation on the impact it would have on the system if large count value is used

Best way to check this is to ask ServiceNow team from hi portal

Hi Pranshu,

Good Day!

If you looping workflow (with rollback to or similar activities) you can potentially create an infinite loop. This counter prevents the WF from running away uncontrolled. In some situations, where you have a complex workflow, you can increase the number for an example: 2500+, even 10000

But don't setting it to an extremely high number like 100,000 or you could run in to performance problems with a runaway context.
