I was wondering the best practices in dev of the creation of relationship table over a adding a multiple choice reference fields to a table.
For instance in servicenow the roles are associated via a relationship table but the user criteria uses multiple choice reference fields.
Is the reason of a the creation of a relationship table is that we need other data than just the relation between two tables? If yes is mandatory? Are we creating relationship table if we know that the new reference field will contains to many reference in it and make the management complicated?
