Workflow Stages - "Request Approved" - How to check/mark as Completed?

There is a stage that shows on RITM that seems to be tied to REQ. Fine. However, even when the REQ is marked APPROVED, it does not show as marked/checked?

I have seen many posts about how this is OOB and we should leave it. Ok. But how do I mark it checked/green/completed? The REQ is approved and in stage FULFILLMENT, which is reflected on the above when you collapse it... but nothing I do seems to actually mark this completed. I want to avoid removing it since it is supposed to be there, but I WOULD like it to correctly show the status of things.

In this case, the RITM is APPROVED, the REQ is APPROVED... what am I missing to mark this stage as completed?

Stage is driven by the Workflow or Flow. You set the stages in there and move the stage along as you move the Flow along. It has nothing to do with the State.

I realize that. In this case, the stage is FULFILLMENT, but that one stage line in the widget remains unchecked.

Here is a different workflow where I added additional stages of the same name to what seems to be built in and still the REQUEST APPROVED stage is not marked completed. How do I do that?

If the route that the RITM takes skips that stage, that stage will remain unchecked. You have to make sure that your workflow/flow hits all those stages if you want them to be checked. So if an approval was skipped for the above RITM but you want it to be checked, you will have to set the stage to that even though it's not being sent for approval. I hope that makes sense.

Thank you for the reply. That stage is not even on the listed stages for the workflow-

So I cannot set the stage using the STAGE field at the top of an activity, as it is not present. If I create one, it is an additional one to this as shown in my above screenshots. I have also tried via script to set the STAGE on RITM and also tried setting it on the parent REQ. That stage still sits there unchecked and not green no matter what I do.
