Workflow Studio "Send email" action looses recipient

Hello,

I'm helping one of our teams that have a flow with a number of "send email" steps. The steps that send email to an individual appear to work fine both in the DEV and PROD instance, however sending the email to an external distribution list works in DEV but does not work in PROD. 

In the execution record at the "send email" step you can see that the recipient is a valid external email address.  But by the time the message is added to the sys_email table, the recipient field is empty. I can't find anything in the system logs that could indicate where the error is.
Has anyone seen this before?

Platform is Washington DC Patch 4

It has been resolved. The distribution list apparently must be in the service-now domain, but the list we used was a company distribution list  @company.com
