At different stages of my career, while working in the capacity of an IT Consultant, Developer, Agilist and business analyst, have seen the interpretation of the word 'Value' in different contexts. I wish I can go back in time and tweak those things to create more value which I learned as a lesson of a retrospection.
Customer satisfaction, adoption, Compliance, word of mouth, business impact, brand value, Quality are some of the keywords which are above the dollar value of any transaction.

Since the world is making the move towards the digital transformation, it is crucial to talk about value realisation along with cost, budget or scope.
The first thing which should be considered before we start the voyage of the digital transformation is the VISION.
Without the right vision, we psychologically lack the feeling of accomplishing the task along with creating and spreading the value.
In this world of agility, teams should be motivated to create an impact instead of just achieving the Definition of done. The impact of investing on early and effective communication cannot be denied.
Ideally a value is calculated as a calculation of cost saved, time saved and number of users impacted. But what about the experience and trend the work has created across the organisation and beyond?
Seamless ordering systems, automated lockers, issue resolution on mobile are just some basic examples of how we are saving thousands of dollars and hours on administration along with creating awareness of becoming more tech savvy.
CAPABILITY plays a crucial role in deciding your outcome as without skills nothing is possible.
Both technical and personal skills contribute equally depending on the roles and responsibilities of individuals as stakeholder management is invariably the most important aspect in gaining excellent score in customer satisfaction.
A project was delivered well within the decided scope, cost and time but still the CSAT is not improving signifies that the work was not presented well in the form of a story which should usually begin with a pain point and continue to show the path how the team came up with the solutions and implemented and measured the success in terms of business impact and changes in the environment of the organisation.
Lack of discipline is the biggest reason why even the top strategies fail. It is nothing but a robust and rock solid GOVERNANCE MODEL to make people stay on the right track and abide by the processes and policies.
Properly designed and implemented strategic, technical and portfolio operating models help everyone understand their roles and responsibilities and keep them in a designated framework which eventually achieve the goal decided. Leadership by example perfectly fits here as Top down approach works best for making someone follow your rules.
Continuous inspection and feedback loops to measure the value and then communicating it across the organisation helps in creating an environment of enthusiasm and dedication.
As this mechanism is easier said than done, organisational change management has to create a wave of trust and change in order to shift the mindset from task completion to value realisation.
