Feature Overview
At the heart of modern employee experience lies the pivotal capability of a comprehensive employee profile. In our San Diego release, we introduced the new Employee Profile page experience that aggregates and personalizes employee data, making it easy to find and engage with co-workers. San Diego release introduced an enhanced employee profile page on the Employee Center, enabling personalization through photos, bios, and preferred pronouns. Administrators retain control over displayed sections and fields, including the option to integrate HRSD profile widgets or custom components. Furthermore, with the San Diego release, all customers can leverage the Employee Profile for AI Search and to make ML-based content recommendations on EC and EC Pro.
With the May’23 release, portal admins can configure a tabbed user interface to better structure employee data based on various categories, such as overview, work items, benefits, etc.

Elevate your organizational chart experience with the enhanced org chart functionality now accessible through the Employee Center Pro application. This upgraded org chart offers a more modern UI and advanced configuration options than the previous org chart found in the Content Publishing application. Embrace this enriched org chart by opting into the Employee Profile feature, accessible from the San Diego release onwards.

- What is the Employee Profile table?
The Employee Profile store application includes a new table that contains information about the employee. This table is called the Employee Profile Table. Admins can sync this table with the sys_user or the hr_user table. Admins can also define which users they want to include in the Employee Profile Table. For example, organizations may have contingent workers included in their Sys_user table but may choose to exclude them from the Employee Profile Table.
- What configuration options are available on the Employee Profile? How can admins make sure personal or sensitive information is not visible on a profile page?
Admins can do the following:

- Change design elements – These include changing the layout of different sections, defining order, icons, etc.
- Define visibility – These include making fields within each section visible to employees only, managers only, everyone, etc. Also, these can be made available for desktop or mobile views independently.
- Define actionability – These include options such as “view org chart” or “start teams chat”

- Is it required to download the Employee Profile app separately?
Employee Profile is shipped as part of a separate ServiceNow Store application. Upon upgrade to San Diego, organizations will automatically get Employee Profile installed. However, we do have quarterly new releases going out on ServiceNow Store.
We recommend organizations download the latest Employee Profile store app separately with every release, along with the latest Employee Center apps.
- Can we use Employee Profile for making ML-driven content recommendations?
Yes, organizations that are entitled to Predictive Intelligence can use Employee Profile to make content recommendations. They can also use it to fine-tune their AI Search ML model. Refer to the manage Employee Profile AI and ML model product documentation page to learn more.
