San Diego family release is now available as early access for all our customers. We’re excited to announce the enhancements to Employee Center as part of it - spanning both the base Employee Center Package as well as the Employee Center Pro package.
Please, refer to our Employee Center release notes, Employee Center Pro release notes, and Content Publishing release notes for additional information and version numbers.
New, unified employee profile with a modern profile page
A comprehensive employee profile is critical for a modern employee experience – data on the employee profile is required to personalize the experience and a rich employee profile page enables employees to learn more about their co-workers.
With the San Diego release, we have provided all ServiceNow customers the ability to create a new unified employee profile that aggregates employee information across departments and systems. We have also enhanced the employee profile page on Employee Center, to make it more engaging. Employees can now personalize their profile with a photo, background image, bio, and specify their preferred pronoun of choice. They can also choose what information they want to make public.
Administrators can configure what sections and fields are displayed on the profile page, and further extend the employee profile page by adding widgets such as HRSD profile widgets (My contacts, My rewards, My documents, My delegates) or custom widgets.
With the San Diego release, all customers can leverage the Employee Profile for AI Search and to make ML-based content recommendations on EC and EC Pro. For example, ITSM Pro customers, who are licensed to PI capabilities, can now use Employee Profile to make content recommendations in the "Recommended for you" widget on the EC home page.
To use Employee Profile, administrators need to 1) download the Employee Profile app from the ServiceNow store after the San Diego upgrade and 2) opt-in to use the new employee definition and page design on Employee Center. The employee definition enables administrators to sync employee profile data from sys_user or hr_profile.
For more details, review the Employee Profile product docs.
The new Employee Profile page is also available on Now Mobile. See Employee profile UI for Now Mobile product docs for more details.
Bulk tag catalog and knowledge content to Curated Experience Topics
With the San Diego release, customers can now ‘bulk tag’ all the content associated with a given Catalog/Knowledge category to a given Taxonomy Topic. They can do many to many mapping between the Catalog/Knowledge categories and Taxonomy topics.
This capability will make it easier for customers to deploy Curated Experiences and will connect the back end with the employee-facing content categorization.
For additional details, see Associate content from knowledge categories to a topic and Associate content from catalog categories to a topic on product docs.
Differentiate topic pages in their design
By default, Curated Experience topic pages follow a consistent page layout to make content discovery easier for employees. In certain circumstances some topic pages need a custom layout, for example, let’s say there is a new topic for “Remote work” that has a set of custom widgets and requires a different layout than other topics. With the San Diego release, taxonomy administrators can specify an alternate page layout for topics e.g., to show an additional content type. They can choose to apply the alternate layout selectively within the topic hierarchies.
Note that to use this feature, administrators would need to download the February store release apps after the San Diego upgrade.
Upgrade to San Diego and download the latest Employee Center (version 24.0.5), Employee Center Pro (version 24.0.4), and Employee Profile (version 3.0.5) apps from ServiceNow Store to get access to the above-listed features.
