AI Search on Topic Pages

Employee Center users can now use AI Search capabilities on a Topic page to filter content associated with the topic and sub-topic pages.  This search functionality is in addition to the filtering option by content type.

Powered with the AI Search, with features such as auto-correct, recent search, spell check, and synonym detection, users will be able to quickly discover relevant content associated with the Topic. They can also easily switch to Global Search to widen the scope of their search.

Note: You must be on the Utah family release and install Employee Center 28.0.4 (Feb 2023 store release) to enable the search on the topic pages feature. Also, this is only available with AI Search.

Refer to search functionality on the topic pages on Product Docs for additional details and configuration options.

Taxonomy Topics as filters on AI Search page

The Taxonomy Topic structure creates a mental model for Employee Center users to browse content via the Mega Menu. They can now leverage the same mental model for filtering AI Search results on the Global Search page.

Organizations using AI Search will see the Topic-based search facet automatically generated based on content tagged to the Taxonomy Topics. These topic-based search facets are included as a filtering option by default on the AI Search Page.

Updating Taxonomy Topics with New Content

Topic managers can now easily ensure that Topics stay updated with new content, without having to go through Knowledge or Catalog contributors/managers.

Topic Managers can connect the Topic with the Knowledge and Catalog categories that they want to track for content updates (see step 1 in the screenshot). Once connected, the topic manager can use the Related Link functionality (step 2 in the screenshot) to get a list of content that is new in the connected categories. From there the topic manager can select the ones relevant to their topic and associate them with the topic with one click.

Enhancements to Rich Content Editor for Dynamic Topic Microsites (requires Employee Center Pro)

In our November 2022 release, we launched the Dynamic Topic Microsites capability for organizations to create richer topic page experiences with HTML content to better guide, engage and inform employees. This capability came with a new drag-and-drop editor to author the content of the ‘Rich Content’ widget on Topic Microsites.

Content authors can now more easily ensure the content they create aligns with the portal theme. Design selectors for components like text, buttons, and links include the portal theme as primary selector choices. Authors can also choose to ignore these primary choices and pick a style of their choice. There are also several minor usability enhancements made that make it easy to use the Rich Content Editor for building long-form, manually curated content.

Additionally, content authors can now create a tabbed navigation structure to highlight a subset of the content (see screenshot below). The tabbed structure is very helpful in organizing content based on process steps or defined categories.

Note: You must ensure to first be on SanDiego Patch 10 or Tokyo Patch 5 or Utah family releases and then download the new Employee Center Pro (version 28.0.1) from the ServiceNow store.

Refer to the Rich Content Editor product documentation for additional details on the enhancements made to it.

Enhancements to Employee Communications Workflow i.e., Content Governance (requires Employee Center Pro)

In our August 2022 release, we launched a new end-to-end workflow for Employee Center users to request communication content to be posted on the portal and other channels and content authors to fulfill that request. This capability is called Content Governance.

With the February 2023 enhancements to Content Governance, Employee Center users who request the communication content or the author working on that request can add one or more additional reviewers to approve the content before it is published (see screenshot below for the task view for these approvers).

This enhancement makes it easy to have a more robust governance of the communication content published across channels. Refer to Content Governance product docs to learn about the feature and enhancements made.

In addition to the enhancements made to Employee Center (Pro), the February 2023 store release also includes enhancements made to Now Mobile Experience. Admins can easily create a consistent branding experience across Mobile components (such as cards) and pages, including the Embedded Web screens (or MESP pages). The branding experience is now also consistent with the Next Experience UI theme. Learn more about the enhancements at Now Mobile app release notes and download Now Mobile (version 27.1.0) from the ServiceNow Store.
