Search not working in english

Hi everyone,
We have been facing an issue in Popular topics widget in employee center.
When we search for any catalog item, the search on that widget is unable to yield any results. However, if we change the language to french, the search indexing works. We have already tried indexing the catalog item table in search sources of the index tables. Also, we have looked into the AI search configurations but nothing seem to work.
Before the indexing, the search was working fine and we were able to search in english language but it wasn't working in the french language. We did the reindexing of the sc_cat_item table and after that the french search has been working but the english has stopped working.
Note:
1. Even though the search in the widget does not work, the global search works because it uses the Zing text index I think?
2: sys_translated_text table contains french language records of the catalog items but no records for the english language as it is the source language.
Any guidance on fixing this issue is appreciated!

Have you installed the Internationalization plugin, which is the core plugin for translation? If not, then install this plugin; this will help you to translate.
