Widget: Catalog Homepage Search- Configuration

My boss has tasked me with creating a brand new ticket page for our incidents and requests. She wants people to be able to search using a search box that will specifically only search catalog items to try and help employees find the correct ticket to submit. 

 

I found the Catalog Homepage Search, and it looks like it does what I want it to do, but I'm not sure how to configure it for my exact purpose. I tried searching the community and the SN documentation and it proved to be a challenge. 

 

Anyone got any ideas?

Yes it's possible. Do you use service portal configuration or ui builder? I thought Employee center was an experience but we don't use it so I'm not sure. The steps are different if you're dealing with an experience, but the principle is the same.

  • Portal: Page has the widget that uses the search source. Associate the search source for catalog items with the widget.
  • Experience: The page has the component that uses the search source. Associate the search source for the catalog items with the component. You may have to configure a search profile and search application associated with the search source to use it on the component but it's still doable.
