The July 2026 release focuses on giving organizations more ways to surface existing content in Employee Slate, giving admins more control over home page configuration and canvas management, and strengthening governance with employee attestation.

Here's what's new.

What's launching in July 2026

  • EC Pro News and Events in the Content Feed Widget
  • Homepage Widget Configuration in Admin Console
  • Canvas Admin Enhancements
  • Streamlined Email Notifications
  • Terms of Use Attestation
  • Other Updates: Employee Profile Photo

1. EC Pro News and Events in the Content Feed Widget

Requires Employee Slate Advanced.

Organizations that publish News and Events through Employee Center Pro no longer have to choose between their existing content workflows and the Employee Slate experience. This release automatically surfaces EC Pro published News and Events directly in the Content Feed widget on the Canvas page, bridging the two experiences without requiring a content migration.

Once enabled, the Content Feed widget reads published content from EC Pro and displays it alongside native Employee Slate announcements in a single, unified feed. Admins can toggle EC Pro News, Events, or both, depending on what their organization wants to surface. All EC Pro content settings are respected automatically:

  • Scheduling — only content within its active window is displayed
  • Audience targeting — visibility rules configured in EC Pro carry over as-is
  • Active status — only published, active content appears in the feed

Employees see each item with its headline and thumbnail. Hovering over an article shows a "Read Article" or "View Event" prompt. Clicking through opens the full detail page embedded directly within Employee Slate, including content engagement features, categories, and event-specific options like RSVP, without exposing EC Pro navigation.

For organizations on EC Pro today, this means content teams can continue authoring where they always have, while employees get a unified communications experience on Employee Slate.

2. Homepage Widget Configuration in Admin Console

Setting up the Employee Slate home page used to mean navigating across multiple platform tables and, in the case of Quick Links, running a script with system IDs. This release brings home page widget configuration directly into the Admin Console, as part of a broader vision to give admins a single place to configure everything for Employee Slate.

Admins now see a dedicated home page configuration view listing all configurable out-of-the-box widgets, with a live preview on the right. For this release, Quick Links is fully configurable from this view — clicking the edit icon against the Quick Links widget opens a dedicated configuration page where admins can:

  • Add quick links by searching and selecting from a dropdown
  • Delete or reorder links with drag-and-drop, with the preview updating in real time
  • Configure up to 10 quick links; the option to add more is disabled once the limit is reached
  • "User criteria applied" indicator flags any quick link with audience conditions, so admins know display may vary by employee
  • A direct link to the platform record is available for each quick link, for advanced edits
  • Unsaved changes trigger a discard confirmation on cancel, preventing accidental loss of configuration

For Announcements and Holiday Calendar, the Admin Console provides direct navigation links to their respective configuration views. A "Mark as Configured" option lets admins track completion status within the console.

No more scripts. No more scattered tables. Just a straightforward configuration experience in one place.

3. Canvas Admin Enhancements

Configuring the canvas for a large, diverse workforce means validating what employees actually see — before they see it. This release gives Canvas Admins two new controls.

Preview by Role or User

Admins can select any role or individual employee from a dropdown within the Admin Canvas to trigger a live preview. The preview:

  • Renders the correct widget layout and visibility rules for the selected context
  • Is read-only, with a visible banner indicating preview mode and the selected role or user
  • Reflects the employee's personalized view if they have customizations, not the default template
  • Returns the admin to their edit state on exit, with no unsaved changes lost

Push Updates Without Overwriting Personalization

When admins publish canvas updates, changes propagate using additive-only logic:

  • New widgets appear in default positions for users who haven't placed them yet
  • Widgets an employee has already configured, repositioned, or hidden remain untouched
  • A success confirmation shows how many users received the update
  • Merge warnings appear if any changes cannot be applied additively
  • All updates are logged in the audit trail with a timestamp and admin name

4. Streamlined Email Notifications

Employee Slate shipped with 38 active out-of-the-box email notifications across Incident, Requested Item, and Catalog Task — a volume that creates noise, inconsistency, and confusion for employees and admins alike. This release consolidates them into 16 essential email notifications, organized by persona and lifecycle stage, with refreshed AI-native branded content throughout.

The 16 consolidated email notifications are structured around two personas — requester and fulfiller — and cover the key lifecycle moments that actually matter to each. Every email notification in the new set:

  • Uses the Employee notification template exclusively, retiring all legacy template formatting
  • Leads with an action-oriented subject line that includes the ticket number
  • Opens with a first-name greeting and plain-language status update
  • Includes contextual details — short description, priority, urgency, and assigned group
  • Features a primary CTA linking directly to the Employee Center or Employee Slate detail view
  • Includes an optional CSAT survey link on resolution and completion notifications

All email notifications are rendered in the AI-native ITSM brand — Lato font, ServiceNow color scheme, responsive for mobile email clients — with no duplicate or legacy notifications firing after consolidation.

Configuring Email Notifications in the Admin Console

A dedicated Notifications section in the Admin Console gives admins a centralized view of all existing email notifications for Employee Slate. From here, admins can review which notifications are still on legacy templates and migrate them to the new Employee Slate template in one step.

  • Click "Update to Employee Slate" to migrate all notifications to the new template at once
  • On confirmation, the Employee Slate template replaces the current email template and the notifications move to the updated list
  • For each notification, admins can preview the email to review how it will appear to employees, or open the notification record directly for further editing

The result: employees receive fewer, clearer, better-branded email notifications at the moments that matter, and admins get a notification set that's simpler to manage and easier to explain.

5. Terms of Use Attestation

Organizations can now require employees to accept Terms of Use before accessing Employee Slate. Once enabled, new users see an attestation prompt on first login and cannot proceed until they accept.

Admins configure this from Moveworks Setup, with the option to define multiple segments to present different terms to different user groups. Each segment targets a specific group using DSL rules based on attributes like department, location, or role.

The attestation flow creates an audit trail of user acknowledgment, supporting governance and compliance requirements.

Refer to Terms of Use Attestation product documentation for additional details.

6. Other Updates

Employee Profile Photo

Employees can now upload, update, or delete their profile photo directly from their Employee Slate profile page, with support for standard image formats and a 5MB file size limit.
