Hello Community,
I am currently working on configuring the Platform Analytics component within the BCM (Business Continuity Management) module and would appreciate your guidance.
I came across the following resources and wanted to check if these are the correct approach for enabling and configuring analytics in BCM:
Could you please help clarify:
- Whether these steps are applicable specifically for BCM?
- Any additional configurations required to make analytics work effectively in BCM?
- Recommended best practices for setting up dashboards/reports for BCM using Platform Analytics
- Any limitations or prerequisites we should be aware of
My goal is to enable meaningful insights and reporting for BCM users through Platform Analytics.
Any guidance, documentation, or real-time implementation experience would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you in advance for your support!

Hi,
Unfortunately, the attached link is not working at the moment, but based on my understanding of BCM and Platform Analytics, I can share some general guidance.
Platform Analytics can certainly be used to provide operational and executive-level reporting for BCM. The overall approach is similar to other ServiceNow applications; however, you'll want to design indicators, breakdowns, and dashboards around your BCM processes and reporting requirements.
My suggestions:
Define the BCM KPIs you want to report on, such as:
Number of active crises
BIAs by state
Recovery plans by state and owner
Critical business services and dependencies
Overdue risk assessments
Crisis response performance metrics
Ensure BCM data is being populated consistently before creating Platform Analytics indicators. The quality of reporting will depend heavily on the quality and completeness of the underlying data.
Create Platform Analytics indicators based on BCM data and define useful breakdowns, such as:
Business Unit
Region
Service
Criticality
Risk Level
State
Consider persona-specific dashboards, for example:
Executive Dashboard: high-level KPIs, trends, and readiness indicators
BCM Manager Dashboard: operational metrics, compliance monitoring, and overdue actions
Plan Owner Dashboard: assigned actions, review tasks, and plan maintenance activities
Some common prerequisites include:
Platform Analytics licensing and activation
Appropriate data collection jobs
Historical data collection for trend reporting
Required roles, including BCM administrative access and analytics/dashboard creator permissions
One thing to consider is that while Business Continuity Workspace provides out-of-the-box landing page widgets (such as My BIAs, My Plans, and Pending Approvals), deeper historical trending, scorecards, and executive reporting often require custom indicators and dashboards tailored to organizational requirements.
I'd also be interested to hear from anyone who has implemented Platform Analytics specifically for BCM and can share any BCM-focused dashboards, indicators, or best practices available out of the box.
Thank you.

Where is your link supposed to point to? Because that URL doesn't exist.
