Hi all,
We are trying to manage the asset transfer from a stockroom to a client location using OOB transfer order.
It is possible to use "Service location" and "Distribution channel" OOB functionalities to manage the asset transfer from stockroom to client location?
If so, it is part of FSM module?
If so, how those functionalities can be used?
Many thanks

Hi @Tommaso2 ,
Transfer Orders (HAM)
Out‑of‑the‑box Transfer Orders are part of Hardware Asset Management (HAM).
They’re designed to move assets between locations (for example, from a stockroom to a client site).
The system tracks the order, the items being moved, and updates the asset record once the transfer is complete.
Service Location & Distribution Channel (FSM)
Service Location is a Field Service Management (FSM) concept. It defines where services or deliveries happen (like a client office or site).
Distribution Channel is also FSM. It describes how the asset gets delivered (courier, technician, etc.).
These are not part of HAM by default — they belong to FSM. If your instance has FSM licensed and configured, you can use them to enrich the transfer process.
How They Can Be Used Together
1. Create a Transfer Order in HAM:
Source = stockroom.
Destination = client location.
2. Link Service Location (FSM):
Use the client’s service location record so the order points to the right site.
3. Assign Distribution Channel (FSM):
Define the delivery method (e.g., technician drop‑off, courier).
4. Fulfill the Transfer Order:
Track shipment, receipt, and closure.
Asset record updates automatically to show the new location.
Transfer Orders = HAM core function.
Service Location & Distribution Channel = FSM features.
You can use them together if FSM is enabled, but they’re not required for basic asset transfers.
Best practice: use Transfer Orders for the move, and enrich them with FSM’s Service Location/Distribution Channel if you want to track delivery details more precisely.
