Legal Hold Lifecycle Status

Not sure if this is the right place for this but throwing it out there.

Most organizations, especially financial institutions, have a legal process where they are occasionally required to hold records and devices for a period of time.  We call this "Legal Hold" in our company and our hardware asset team has a process for putting these devices into a segregated legal hold area.   In ServiceNow, there is no method to identify a device that has been pulled from the user but isn't being disposed of due to the legal hold obligation.

I've submitted an idea in the Idea Portal to add a new Lifecycle Status option for Legal Hold.  If you are experiencing the same problems properly identifying these devices that we are, please go upvote this idea.

Could you go give the idea I submitted an upvote if you are so inclined?   View Idea Page - Idea Portal (servicenow.com)

Hi Pat,

It sounds as though you haven't yet migrated to the CSDM Lifecycle standards as legal hold is a lifecycle status for hardware Hardware life cycle (servicenow.com)

Thanks for the reply Tim,

I checked in my prod environment, and we are a version behind on CSDM... however, I did make sure I was up to date in my developer environment, and I still do not see the legal hold option in my Life cycle mapping list.

I'm curious what the blue "CI" means on the screen shot in the document link you shared.  Do you know?  I ask because I do not see the Quarantine life cycle either.  I do see the "Pending Repair" life cycle however.

Your observation is valid—ServiceNow doesn’t natively handle a specific “Legal Hold” and “código de area status for devices. A potential solution would be to create a custom field or status under the hardware asset module, such as “Legal Hold.” This can help flag and segregate such assets, enabling better tracking and compliance with legal obligations. Have you explored this customization option?

Thanks for responding.  I checked and we are not on the latest version.  However, I did update to the latest version in my developer environment and 'legal hold' is still not there.  I noticed that 'Quarantine' is not there either.    Looking in the lifecycle mapping table but also added those fields to the form.  Any ideas?

Maybe I'll drop this in the CSDM forum also.

In the documentation, I see a blue "CI" next to those items, not sure what that means.  I'll attach a screen shot of what I'm seeing.
