After reviewing the DOC located here, it reads as if Mike Sheridan's response above should provide the results I am looking for.  I am unable to get the PDF to attach to the record without previewing or e-signing.  I did open a case on HI and they also agree that the PDF should automatically attach and were able to produce the issue Out Of Box.  It is currently under further review.  I will post findings here.
