What is the best method of reporting MoM / YoY results for custom business application fields?

My team has a number of metrics based on custom business application fields that we report on monthly using Tableau because of calculations required to arrive at those metrics. Now we are being asked to also look at those metrics MoM and YoY. We require assistance identifying: 

• The most effective method of building complex calculations on a daily, monthly basis. 
• What tables would be used to collect snapshots of data for MoM / YoY reports. 
• The most effective method to produce MoM / YoY reports. 

My search of the SNOW knowledge base has not provided beneficial documentation. Any knowledge links applicable to this ask would be appreciated.
