Challenge: Pass on information between parent HR Case and HR Case created from HR Task

Hi,

I wanted to see if anyone has an idea for the following challenge:

I have a Lifecycle Events Case which has an activity with an HR task template of type HR Service. That activity is assigned to an end user who opens the HR task in EC, enters some data to variables and submits it which then results in an HR IT Operations Case.

Now I would need the information of the subject person of the original LE Case transferred to the HR IT Operations case in some way because it is needed there.

Obviously I could ask the end user to manually type in the name of the LE Case subject person in one variable, but that sounds a bit annoying and I wanted to see if there are any ideas how to pass on that information otherwise? Any idea to prefill something in the HR IT Operations Case coming from the HR Task or any other way?

Hi

Activity type should be HR task. Go to the Activity field mapping related list

Hi,

You can create activity field mappings within lifecycle event -> activity sets -> activity

Map the subject person field of HR case to the case variable

So you mean instead of using Activity Type HR Task, you would use Activity Type HR Service? But how should an end user then fill the rest of created child case? I think the only option to involve an end user is an HR task and there you don't have field mappings.

Thanks a lot. I actually had to change some more to get it fully working for my use case (Task Type Submit Catalog Item, Link Element = Parent in the Task Template), but your hint helped me close one of the gaps 🙂
