Need any of the following:
- a custom interface for your ServiceNow instance?
- a slick and polished service catalog?
- a corporate branded login or search page?
Give the ServiceNow CMS (Content Management System) application a try. You don't have to be a seasoned developer or a web page designer to use the CMS.
An easy way to get started is to copy the ESS Portal sample site included in the base system and then play around with the copied site. The sample site uses a clean, straightforward design with images and text:
Copying a site creates a complete duplicate of the site, including all resources such as blocks, CSS, and pages. In addition to learning about the CMS, copying a site is also useful for site versioning, branding, or creating a backup.
To copy a CMS site:
- Navigate to Content Management > Sites.
- On the Site record, click Copy.
- Enter a name for the new site.
- Click OK.
Try editing the home page using your own corporate branding and images. You can put together a new, customized page quickly.
In addition to copying an entire site, you can copy just a single page in a CMS project. This is useful if you have one good, well-designed page and need to create more pages fast. Note that when you copy a page, the page is duplicated, but the resources (CSS, blocks, menus) associated with the page are not.
- Navigate to Content Management > Sites.
- Open a site.
- Select the Name of the page to copy.
- On the Page record, click Copy.
- In the Name field, type a new name for the page.
- Edit the page.
- Click Update.
ServiceNow offers a great deal of information about the CMS application.
