We love the extra features and functionalities that plugins provide, but we occasionally have to phase out support for some of them. This helps make sure we can bring you new and even more useful options.
Beginning with the Now Platform Rome release in September 2021, we no longer deploy or activate the Multiple Provider Single Sign-On v1 feature (MulitSSOv1). They will remain active in your instance, including when you upgrade to a new release family.
Beginning with the Now Platform Tokyo release planned for September 2022, we will end support for the MultiSSOv1feature. While they will remain active in your instance, including when you upgrade to a new release family, the SSO functionality will not be supported by the MultiSSOv1 version. To use SSO functionality you have to upgrade to the MultiSSOv2 version and if you continue to use MultiSSOv1 logins may break.
MultiSSOv2 version comes with a lot of enhancements like HTTP POST Support, IDP initiated Single Logout (SLO) support, Encrypted Assertion support, and Seamless Upgrades along with a host of other improvements.
Affected Plugins
Name: Integration - Multiple Provider Single Sign-On Installer
ID: com.snc.integration.sso.multi.installer
Here's what you need to do
Check if you are still using the MultiSSOv1 version of the plugin
To verify:
- Navigate to All properties (sys_properties.list)
- Search for the Property by name – glide.authenticate.multissov2_feature.enabled
- If this property is not found in the instance or the property value is set to false, then it effectively means that you are still using MultiSSOv1 and you must upgrade to MultiSSOv2 to avoid Login failures.
Manually upgrade to MultiSSOv2
If you have not made customizations in the SSO or Approval with e-signature features upgrading to MultiSSOv2 is a simple process.
- Navigate to All properties (sys_properties.list)
- Find the property with the name glide.authenticate.multisso.enabled and Update the value as false
- Find the property with the name glide.authenticate.multissov2_feature.enabled
- If the property is not available and create a new property
- Name – glide.authenticate.multissov2_feature.enabled
- Type – true | false
- Value – true
- If the property with the name glide.authenticate.multissov2_feature.enabled is available update the value as true
- Again, find the property with the name glide.authenticate.multisso.enabled and update the value as true
- Test the SSO logins in the in-Cognito mode
- If SSO logins are successful, you have successfully upgraded to MultiSSOv2.
Reverting to MultiSSOv1
If SSO logins are failing, you can refer to KB0756504 for detailed steps about troubleshooting. You can also reach out to ServiceNow support for reverting to MultiSSOv1.
