Adding Participants to Teams Sidebar Conversation – Access Issue

Hello Community,

I'm currently working on integrating Teams conversations via the sidebar in ServiceNow. When I try to add participants to the conversation, I receive an error stating that the user does not have access to the record.

I’d like to understand:

  • Is it possible to add participants without assigning them additional roles?
  • If roles are required, can I create a custom role and assign it to a user group specifically for granting access to the relevant records?
  • Can this role be non-administrative, focused solely on enabling access for participation in the conversation?

Any insights or best practices on managing access for Teams sidebar conversations would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you!

I suggest you add them to the watch list first, users will need to pass ACL's such as has role ITIL, is requestor  etc.
