In the Cloud Service Account Screen, the "Discover Datacenters" option under the "Related Links" tab enables you to perform the datacenter discovery via Cloud API (CAPI). As we're progressing with the release there have been limitations for its support. This article emphasizes those limitations and possible solutions as well.

NEW YORK & ORLANDO: The CAPI Support for Datacenter Discovery is available for AWS Accounts (Master/Member/Discrete) and Azure Accounts (Subscriptions ONLY).

PARIS: We introduced the support for Azure Management Group and GCP Related Projects Discovery. The is no support yet from the CAPI for the Datacenter Discovery for Azure Management Group thus it cannot succeed and the UI link is made invisible in case if the accounts are GCP Projects.

QUEBEC: We introduced the support for GCP Folder Discovery. There is no support yet from the CAPI for the Datacenter Discovery for the GCP Folder thus you cannot find the link to leverage for the GCP Projects.

 

Reasons for the above limitations:

  1. The UI action is being tweaked but for now (till Quebec) no CAPI support available for the Datacenter Discovery, Sub Account Discovery for Azure Mgmt Group, GCP Folder, etc.
  2. The "Discover Datacenters" platform UI link relies on the CAPI implementation via CMP (CPG) resource blocks which have the support only for AWS accounts, Azure Subscriptions.
  3. Also, many customers are now migrating towards the patterns rather than the CAPI.

 

Possible Solution:

Customers are recommended to leverage the Cloud Wizard, a guided UI for Cloud Discovery Schedule creation that includes Account Validation, Sub Accounts Discovery, Datacenter Discovery.
