Dear
I would like to solicit your help with the Discovery Fundamentals on Demand course Task 1.9.4 from Step 3 and onwards. The first two steps in the pattern setup work just fine. But when I debug / test Step 3, although the task completes successfully I do not get the desired result. From there onwards its of course not working and my simulator fails to validate the task.
I spent hours by now to figure this out, but tried honestly everything I could, and I can't pass through.
Are you in a position to help me out?
Many thanks,
Peter

I have been stuck on this one for 2 days. The steps configured on Identification Section have all tested successfully in debug mode, but when I save, publish, discover it, the version and description are missing.

Hi Michelle,
Can you show me what your variables are in your pattern steps? I'd like to see how they are named compared to the names of the fields they reference.
Thanks,
Steve

Do anyone know answer for this question. I strongly feel "a", "b", "c", "e" are the right ones but this question did not take any combination of answers as correct. Please help.

Are you on VPN? If so, try and disconnect from VPN as that may prevent the RDP protocol.
Also, try to RDP from a non work computer to see if you are restricted from RDP protocol.

Module 3, Slides 6 and 7 break down the phases and which tabs they are viewed.
Scanning and Classification are viewed under the ECC Queue tab, Identification and Exploration are under the Discovery tab, which also provides a link to the Patterns log that was run during Discovery process.

c. Scanning
It's showing no results from Classification, Identification or Exploration
Just showing that scanning has started and completed
If there were entries in CI or Device column it may include Classification & Identification... but not Exploration as there are no columns to indicate further information was gathered
And no Probes & Ports are listed

@KKrabbenhoft did you actually reconfigure and save the discovery schedule to use a behaviour. As the script checking the task is done correct is checking the discovery schedule as well. Please name things as described in the task as it can sometimes be different naming convention that are added vs. what the script is checking.

@glenn_pinto yes, I set the reconfigure and save the discovery schedule to use a behavior. It still will not validate. I have since this post, terminated the instance and requested the on-demand to be reset. I want to go through the training once more just to ensure I get things correct in my prod environment when the time comes. Currently we only have CMDB enabled in lower environments.

What is the target table name in Extend Windows OS - Servers Pattern task?

Target table?
Are you talking about what table does the Extended section uses from the Windows - OS pattern? It would be the same target table as the Windows OS pattern itself, it's not a new pattern, it's just an added section to the existing Windows OS - Server pattern.

@glenn_pinto The issue with this task resolved itself. Not sure why but for some reason. I reviewed the task, confirmed my steps then selected validate. All of the tasks were validated successfully. Must have been a hick-up.

Hello,
I am hoping I can get guidance on the task Extend Windows OS - Servers Pattern. I configured and tested the steps and achieved the desired results. However, when I check the discovery log I am getting an error: Identification Engine: Discovery status is FAILURE, Discovery using patterns failed due to lack of existence of the main CI type in the results. Check the discovery logs for more details.
Not sure what I've done incorrectly or where to go to fix the error. I am unable to validate the task.
Any help is greatly appreciated.

Hi Steve,
Thank you for getting back to me.
I have been working on this for the past few days, and I just figured out what I did wrong. I did not add the [*] in the Name string. Once I added the [*], performed the Pattern Sync, and ran the discovery, the description populated with the correct value.

I'm having issues with the task: Reconfigure and Test Discovery Schedule with New Behaviour. I've reconfigured the Windows and Linux Server Schedule as below (no changes to the IP ranges):
I've validated that both the Windows and Linux credentials are correct.
I'm also receiving the expected outputs that the task asks of me:
Here is the ECC queue output as well:
I'm wondering why this task is failing to validate. Any help is appreciated!

@Catherine3 the script does a validation that the discovery and validating the task all happen within a 15min window. It does seem like you have done everything correct from the screen shot. i would rerun discovery, and after it completes, try to validate again as @pratiksha5 recommends. Thanks.

Hello all. I am having some trouble with:
Module 9.1 - Task: Create ITunes Discovery Pattern (Part1)
Actually, I've completed the task, but I'm having trouble with task VALIDATION.
I don't have a "Validate Task" button. Instead I see "Task Result: Pending under the Instance Status section.
How do I get Now Learning or the Simulator to SNAP OUT OF IT, so that I can get my Validate Task button back?
I'm trying to get to a validated task, which looks like this:
Thank you!

Hi Everyone,
In the Discover Fundamentals course, I am trying to complete Lab 6 : "Task: Create iTunes Process Classifier". But with the device obtained through Discovery from the given IP address, I am not able to find "ITunes" application in the input payload of "Windows - Application Dependency Mapping". I have configured the Process classifier correclty, but without the device having the ITunes running in it, Discovery cant find it.
I wont be able to pass the task without completing this. Please suggest the steps I am missing. Thanks in advance.

Hi Mansor,
Few things you can check
1)mid server is up and validated
2)credential test you are getting success
3)then try quick discovery.

Hey Glenn:
I found that the MID Server was not established until five minutes after the instance came up. Just thought I would pass that along. Otherwise looks good.

Mansor,
It looks like you're trying to discover the IP of the router, not the MID IP.
Please double check your IP of the MID Server.

In the Task: Run Quick Discovery, I have executed the quick discovery for my MID Server IP and it created the CI as well in CMDB.
But i am unable to validate the task.

There is a high possibility you have keyed in the router IP instead of MID server. Please validate, it happens to most of them.

Thanks Mansor for the reply,
I am using the correct IP, below is the screenshot from MID Server Page.
Below is the screenshot from the Discovery Status.
More over it has created the CI in the CMDB.
I am not getting the reason for the validation failure
