CI does not populate the serial number

Hi All,
I have a quick question please
In the hardware table, when I create a record by providing a serial number, the Configuration Item (CI) auto-displays the name along with the serial number. For example, if the serial number is 123, then once I submit, the CI is '123 - Dell Latitude,' which is correct.
However, the issue is when the data comes from ASN for location US. In these cases, the CI does not populate the serial number, even though a serial number exists.
Is this issue with ServiceNow or with ASN? Can anyone please suggest a solution?
It would be much appreciated.
