@nicks8850 - Can you confirm whether you have the entry in the sys_object_source for the "source_native_key" and "source_name" you mentioned. 

In the below screenshot, source_name is name in the sys_object_source. If you have the entry then IRE will consider the "sys_object_source_info" details from the JSON payload else it will use the default class level identifier.

Can we use them in Discovery patterns? If yes, are there any downsides and why not many people use them?

Hi @nicks8850 ,

May i know the use case ? This functionality is mainly used for SGC's and using it for discovery will impact if there would be many records in the sys_object_source table i guess , other than that i donot see any issue , while saying that i donot see any use of doing that as well just because you cannot build the unique source native key for each and every record .

Thankyou for your response. 

However, isnt it something like wherein we can set it manually in the pattern as I did and you can see it in the paylaod too. I am giving it something unique based on concatenation of attributes in the pattern itself.

I saw your way of setting it as i can see there the hostname is set as to be unique which is not a mandatory thing to be unique and it it can change in future course of time which will lead the servicenow to create a new record in the sys_object_source and the old record will stay on which is like a stale record (not literally) which will then check for the identification rules. I hope you get my point here , if not please feel free to ask your concern.
