Hello Community,
I have a requirement to discover the virtual machines without hitting the discovery on whole V center as hitting discovery on whole v center discovers all of the components which is not suitable for our purpose as it would take a larger time which may impact automation.
Please let me know what is the best possible way to achieve this.
Thanks in advance.

you can do in 2 ways:
1. If u dont want to discover via Vcenter itself, then use horizontal discovery method to discover the VMs. It will need pre requisite based on the Operating system
2. If u want to do it via Vcenter only, then ask the Vmware Team to restrict the access of the user account that is created for Vmware Discovery to only those ESX hosts which are in scope so during discovery it will only bring those ESX and the VMs under it.

Hello Pratik,
Thanks for the response,
One more query
If we want to discover the virtual machine instaces without hitting the discovery on whole V center can this be possible by making changes in pattern or probes?
Thanks in advance

Hi Madhav,
As i mentioned in my previous response, you can request the Vmware team to restrict the access of the user account. Will that not serve your purpose? OR
you only want to discover Virtual machine instances but not anything else on Vcenter?
