Hi all,
I'm trying to create CIs for racks, datacenter, datacenter zones. computer rooms.
It's hard to understand. Please help me.
Customer wants to use hierachy for "datacenter buildings" -> "floors" -> "rooms" -> "racks"
Is "datacenter building" is datacenter?
Is "floors" are datacenter zones?
Is "rooms" are computer rooms?
Regards,
Hank.

Hi @Hank Woo
Suggested CI hierarchy:
- Datacenter Building → Floor → Room → Rack.
-
Datacenter building vs. datacenter: A "datacenter building" is the physical building where the datacenter is located, while a "datacenter" refers to the entire operational facility. They’re related but not the same.
-
Floors vs. datacenter zones: Floors refer to levels in a building, while datacenter zones are specific areas within the datacenter (like hot/cold aisles). Floors can be treated as zones if needed.
-
Rooms vs. computer rooms: Yes, "rooms" typically refer to computer rooms or server rooms where equipment is housed.
If you found my response helpful, I would greatly appreciate it if you could mark it as "Accepted Solution" and "Helpful."
