Hello,
Could anyone guide me on the below question:
Can the ServiceNow instance directly interact with customer's network if the exclusions are made to the customer's firewall thereby eliminating the need of MID server?
I know the answer is mostly no but just wanted to understand the technical reasons.
-Thanks.

Hello @Priyanka_Ghosh
You're correct that the answer is generally no. Here are some technical reasons why a MID server is typically required for ServiceNow to interact with a customer's network:
1) The MID server acts as a secure bridge between ServiceNow and the customer's internal network. It ensures that sensitive data and network interactions are isolated from the public internet, reducing the risk of exposure to security threats.
2) Direct interaction would require extensive firewall and network configuration changes, which can be complex and risky. The MID server simplifies this by handling the necessary network communication securely and efficiently.
3) The MID server helps manage network traffic and load, ensuring reliable and efficient communication between ServiceNow and the customer network. Direct interaction could lead to any performance issues or any downtime.
4) Using MID server helps to provide an audit trail for network interactions.
Although it's technically possible for ServiceNow to connect directly to a customer's network, it would create big security, performance, and compliance problems. Using a MID server is a safer, more reliable, and easier way to connect ServiceNow with a customer's internal systems.
