Hi Team

I need to re-install a MID server on a host as part of troubleshooting. Could someone please let me know if re-installation of MID server on same host, will change the IP address of the MID server?

Best Regards,

Hi @_navin9898,

When you reinstall a MID Server on the same host in ServiceNow, here's what typically happens in detail regarding the IP address:

  1. Preservation of IP Address: The reinstall process is designed to preserve the existing network configuration, including the IP address of the host where the MID Server is installed. ServiceNow does not inherently change the IP address of the host during a reinstall unless you explicitly configure it to do so.

  2. Installation Process: During the reinstall process, you may be prompted to provide configuration details such as the ServiceNow instance URL, MID Server credentials, and other settings. Typically, the IP address of the host is automatically detected or retained from the previous installation configuration.

  3. Network Settings: It's important to note that any changes to the network configuration outside of the MID Server reinstall process (such as IP address changes made manually on the host) could affect the MID Server's connectivity to ServiceNow. However, the reinstall itself does not trigger IP address changes by default.

  4. Verification: After reinstalling the MID Server, it's a good practice to verify its connectivity to ServiceNow and ensure that all configurations, including IP addresses, are correctly maintained.

In summary, reinstalling a MID Server on the same host in ServiceNow typically does not change the IP address of the MID Server itself. The process is designed to preserve existing settings unless you intentionally modify them during the reinstall process.

Thank you, please make helpful if you accept the solution.
