Revert Pattern to OOB

Hi Team,

We did revert few patterns to OOB, but the issue is, customized steps are still showing.

Any suggestions?

Hi @Nk NK , this works as designed. Customized steps in the OOTB sections should be reverted. Only customized steps within custom sections should be visible after reverting. This behaviour is created to extend patterns without changing the OOTB stuff and not having issues on upgrades. The only way to remove these is to manually remove the custom steps from the reverted patterns.

Hi Daniel, Thanks for the reply.

But i would like to rephrase my question.

When we revert patterns to OOB, what happens to below:

1. The steps in Extension and Connection Section that are completely newly added.  (will they get deleted?)

2. The steps in Extension and Connection Section that are there OOB but were customized. (will they get reverted OOB?)

Because as per our findings, they will remain as they are, and we have to manually 'Remove' them.

Also, what is a custom section, please explain?

Thank you!

Hi @Nk NK,

the discovery pattern have different sections with different behaviour. Let's go step by with example Windows OS - Server pattern:

1. Changes in Identification Section

If you added here a custom step, then a new Version will be created of the pattern and listed under versions:

If you open here the OOTB version and click on Revert to this version - all custom steps are reverted. You should synchronize afterwards the pattern to your MID Servers (UI Action in your MID Server List).

Be aware, within your patterns are maybe used shared libraries (Patterns with type 2 - Shared library) if you did changes there, your need to revert the Shared Library pattern record.

Example: Windows - Printers a shared library used in Windows - Server pattern. Also open the OOTB Version here and click on Revert to this version.

2. Change in OOTB Extension Sections

Out of the box Extensions sections are also stored as Shared Library Patterns. E.g. "Collect MSSQL Info". If you created custom steps here you need to open the pattern record for these. Click on the OOTB version and within click on Related Link "Revert to this version". Keep in mind. this action is only visible if you are in the "Discovery and Service Mapping Patterns" application scope.

3. Custom Extension Section

This section is created by one of your administrators. You need to delete it directly in the Pattern. It's also a Shared Library record so you can check created_by field to identify custom entries.
