Way to stop alert generation for particular events

Hello Folks,

Recently, I was receiving a large number of alerts for certain events that were not relevant to my monitoring requirements. This was creating unnecessary alert noise, so I decided to stop alert generation for those specific events.

To achieve this, I applied the following configuration:

1. Navigate to Event Rules

  • Go to All Events and open the event record for which you want to stop alert creation - click Create Event Rule

OR

  • Navigate to Event Management > Rules > Event Rules.

2. Create a New Event Rule

Under the Event Rule Info tab, provide the following details:

  • Name: Stop Alert Creation (or any suitable name)
  • Source: Specify the source from which the events are being received.

3. Configure Event Filters

Navigate to the Event Filter tab.

Under "All of these conditions must be met", define the conditions for events that should not generate alerts.

Examples:

  • Node is "<node_name>"
  • Description contains ""

4. Ignore Matching Events

This is the most important step.

  • Select the checkbox "Ignore events that match this filter." - Save

This ensures that all events matching the specified conditions are ignored and do not generate alerts.

Outcome :

By configuring this rule, events that meet the defined criteria will be ignored, preventing unnecessary alert creation. This helps reduce alert noise and allows you to focus on actionable alerts instead of dealing with unwanted notifications.

Hope this helps! Please mark it as helpful if it worked for you.
