As I currently see it, an asset record and a ci record has a 1:1 relationship. When there is a request to "decomission" a service, the CI and Asset records are set to 'Retired'. In most cases this is okay as the server will no longer be needed however, there are times when a server can be reused with a new "identity: (hostname, ip address etc).
Is it possible to "unlink" the asset record from the old ci then link it to the new ci record? Or do we create a new asset & ci record?

The BP for that is to create a new one then deactivate or retire the old ones.

Hello,
It is better to create new Asset with new Asset serial number and tag to CI rather than modifying existing one.
